FROM THE EAST
I hope everyone had
a safe and joyous Holiday season and are ready to get back to work
in the quarries.
On January 17, 2012
we will be presenting an apron to our new Grand Representative of
Connecticut, The R:.W:. Nicholas Mazzarella. The presentation will
be open to friends and family a dinner will be held before
Cocktail at 6:00 Dinner at 6:30 P. M. a
very short business meeting at 7:30 followed by the apron
presentation at 8:00. We will need a RSVP head count on those
attending the dinner no later than Friday January 13, 2012. I
would like to see a great turn out to show support for our new Grand
Representative.
The feedback that was received
concerning the recommended by-law changes was all positive. The
members understand that the changes are being put in place to try
and save the Lodge. To put it bluntly our dues structure as it
stands now just pays Grand Lodge per-capita tax with a very little
left over to support the building expenses. The left over may only
cover two months of our electric and gas bills that still leaves ten
months of gas and electric, taxes, insurance and maintenance. The
agreement between the Lodge and Star does not expire until December
2013 which has also put a financial strain on the Lodge. The new
board of directors and trustees will attack this situation head on
and come up with a solution since some of the by-law changes give
them the tools.
Well so
much for that update to the better news five new brothers have been
raised and so far two or three have affiliated which is a positive
direction and we have a few that have or will have petitioned the
lodge for membership in the spring classes.
